Children's Ministry

"Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Valley Shepherd’s Children’s Ministries is committed to providing a safe, Christ-centered environment where children grow in their faith through Bible-based learning, worship and fellowship.

Five Things A Child Needs To GROW

  • To believe God loves them always and can be trusted no matter what
  • To connect with an adult that speaks of and models Christian values
  • To build relationships with Christian peers; to love and value others
  • To develop a spiritual foundation and Biblical knowledge that guides his or her decisions
  • To reach out and serve others

Sunday Morning Ministry

Secured Area Birth-Kindergarten

Parents or a responsible party must check-in and pick up their children at the early childhood Noah’s Ark counter in the children’s wing of the church. At check-in responsible adults are given a numbered ticket that matches their child. This ticket must be presented when picking up the child. All teachers and helpers in the Children’s Ministries are trained and have passed a background check.

Nursery

In our nursery we provide loving, trained workers who will make sure that your children are safe while you worship. This room is designed to handle the special needs of infants and provide mothers a comfortable place to change or feed their babies.

  • Located next to the Sanctuary, across the hall from the Prayer Chapel, is a private room available for parents who need privacy for feeding or calming an upset child. This room provides comfortable chairs, one-way glass windows into the Sanctuary, and audio to hear the service.

Pre-K

Pre-K welcomes children age two through Kindergarten. A combination of learning styles is used to help stimulate your child’s ability to learn and remember what they have been taught about God.

Elementary

The 1st-6th Grade Sunday School. We are currently using the curriculum Tru from David C. Cook. These materials ensure your child will receive a spiritual foundation and Biblical knowledge. Our teachers are well trained and excited to impact the lives of the children in their classrooms.

Children’s Church

Imagine what might happen if YOUR kids caught a glimpse of THEIR role in the great unfolding story of the ages…the story GOD himself is writing. Imagine what might happen if YOUR kids began to live into the narrative!

The children join their parents in adult service and are dismissed to Children’s Church prior to the Pastor’s sermon.

Children’s Bible Quizzing

Children’s Bible Quizzing is all about learning and studying from the Bible and includes a competitive aspect. Students in grades 1-6 are invited to study God’s Word, hide it in their hearts and discover ways to apply what they learn into their everyday lives.

Caravans

Caravans is a Bible based scout program which welcomes boys and girls two years old through 6th grade. Children earn badges as they grow through spiritual, social, mental and physical activities.

Caravans meet on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year from 6:45-8:00 P.M. Activities include field trips, badge ceremonies, parties, Pinewood Derby and a retreat (typically held in October.)

Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is an annual event at Valley Shepherd. Each participant builds a gravity powered model car. Excitement runs high as the cars race down the track to the finish line. The purpose of the Derby is to help our kids build a team relationship with their parent or helper, experience the sense of accomplishment and the excitement of competition, learn good sportsmanship and to have fun. While this is a child’s event, there is a teen/adult division for those who are still “kids at heart”!
